The “Nicola Sala” Conservatory of Benevento and the “Lorenzo Perosi” Conservatory of Campobasso together for the PNRR Internationalization Plan: today, the final rehearsal of the Orchestra before departure for Philadelphia

  • 5 April 2025

Today, the final rehearsal of the Orchestra of the “Nicola Sala” State Conservatory of Music of Benevento took place in preparation for the upcoming international concert to be held on April 12, 2025, at the prestigious Marion Anderson Hall of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia (USA). The musical performance, entitled “Cavalleria Rusticana and Great Loves”, represents one of the main events of the internationalization project financed by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Mission 4, Component 1 (M4C1).

This strategic project, developed in partnership with the “Nicola Sala” Conservatory of Benevento, the “Lorenzo Perosi” Conservatory of Campobasso, and the PEGASO Telematic University, aims to promote international mobility, enhance artistic excellence, and integrate digital skills in the context of higher artistic and musical education.

“Our Orchestra brings the value of public artistic training to the world,” said M° Giuseppe Ilario, Director of the Conservatory of Benevento. “Philadelphia will not only be a prestigious showcase, but above all, a profound experience of human and professional growth for our young musicians.”

Caterina Meglio, President of the Benevento Conservatory, added: “This mission is the result of a well-structured project that places students, Italian musical excellence, and the opportunities of the PNRR at its core.”

For the Campobasso Conservatory, M° Vittorio Magrini, Director, stated: “Internationalization is not only a goal but a working method based on cooperation, artistic quality, and openness to contemporary languages.”

Rita D’Addona, President of the Campobasso Conservatory, emphasized: “Collaboration between Conservatories creates a virtuous institutional network that strengthens the global visibility of Italy’s higher artistic education system.”

Prof. Pierpaolo Limone, Rector of PEGASO University, declared: “Digital innovation supports every phase of the project, making artistic activities more accessible, shareable, and sustainable through multimedia and online platforms.”

A Global Musical Journey

This international project unfolds through four thematic stages, each reflecting a different cultural and musical landscape:
• New York / Philadelphia – April 2025: Cavalleria Rusticana and Great Loves – a symphonic and vocal reinterpretation of Italian opera’s dramatic love stories, with a focus on the verismo tradition;
• Montreal – July 2025: Jazz and Beyond – a reflection on the interplay between Afro-American roots and contemporary improvisation;
• Naples – December 2025, Teatro di San Carlo: The Best of Musicals – a grand final performance featuring iconic works from the international musical theatre repertoire, preceded by a multimedia presentation illustrating the artistic journey undertaken throughout the project.

This initiative underscores the capacity of Italian Higher Artistic and Musical Education to operate on a European and global scale, combining tradition, innovation, and institutional cooperation.
